Lydgate Beach is located in Lydgate State Park, just South of where the Wailua Riverempties into the Pacific. It is generally acknowledged to be the best family-oriented beach on Kauai. It has a protected water area perfect for little ones, a bike/walking path as well as other playful areas to keep you and your family entertained.

The North end of Lydgate Beach offers 2 man-made (man-enclosed) rock pools that offer easier swimming conditions for both adults and children. These project to construct these pools was spearheaded in 1964 by a local man named of Albert Smith Morgan Sr. He was inspired after seeing similar pools while on a trip to Sorrento, Italy in 1958.

Lydgate Beach Park has an expansive grassy area, a 2.5 mile paved trail as well as 2 paygrounds, and is one of the most popular beaches on Kauai.
