Salt Pond Beach has a nice beach on a lagoon with reefs on both sides, making it easy access for snorkeling. The park was named for the natural salt ponds there that the locals have been harvesting sea salt from for generations.

Salt Pond Beach is generally considered to be one of the safest beaches on Kauai, and many families take advantage of the safe, shallow waters, and allow even their youngest children to swim here.
